On January 15, this reporter emailed the above NEWS TIP to the editors listed below at The NY TIMES. I received auto-replies from all that every email is read.
The New York Times is globally regarded as America’s national “newspaper of record.”
On Monday at Twitter, Israel’s Nuclear whistleblower Vanunu Mordechai published this photo and reported he and his attorney Avigdor Feldman were “preparing for the court hearing scheduled for Dec. 22 at 11:00” open to the public at the Russian compound in Jerusalem.
On Thursday December 22, Vanunu wrote at Twitter: Today I was in the court testifying in the new trial, the judge hear the case, will make his verdict next month
On 15 December, this Senior Non-Arab Correspondent for “The Newspaper of Record for the American Arab community” emailed the following news tip to The New York Times because “All the News That’s Fit to Print” [NYT motto] must include USA collusion in Israel’s nuclear weapons program.

SUBJECT: Dec. 22: Israel Nuclear Whistle Blower Mordechai Vanunu returns to court
Dear NY Times,
Israel’s Nuclear Whistle Blower’s July 4th trial reconvenes on 22 December 2016.
On 22 November Vanunu wrote:
“After 30 years in Israel prison the new trial started [on 4 July 2016] from the big trial of exposing Israel Atomic weapons secrets [in 1986-87] to new chargers about moving apartment without reporting, for meeting foreigners, and for speaking to Israel media about Dimona Nuclear secrets. So the trial started and will continue” on 12/22/16.
In 2005, I was just an American writer in Jerusalem who began a series of interviews with Vanunu who was released from 18 years behind bars on 21 April 2004, under a few unenforceable restrictions- such as not to speak to foreigners- and enforceable restrictions that prevent him from leaving Israel.
In May 2015, Vanunu married a Norwegian Professor of the Hebrew Scriptures and she has filed all the paperwork for Vanunu’s asylum – but Israel has yet to allow him to leave the state:
Despite what Vanunu told me [in 2013!] after a CNN reporter asked him for an interview:
“NO! Everything is already on the Internet.”
Did you know that President Kennedy tried to stop Israel from building atomic weapons? In 1963, he forced Prime Minister Ben Guirion to admit the Dimona was not a textile plant, as the sign outside proclaimed, but a nuclear plant. The Prime Minister said, ‘The nuclear reactor is only for peace.’
When Johnson became president, he made an agreement with Israel that two senators would come every year to inspect. Before the senators would visit, the Israelis would build a wall to block the underground elevators and stairways. From 1963 to ’69, the senators came, but they never knew about the wall that hid the rest of the Dimona from them.
Nixon stopped the inspections and agreed to ignore the situation. As a result, Israel increased production. In 1986, there were over two hundred bombs. Today, they may have enough plutonium for ten bombs a year…
In April 2016, a scientific forum in Tel Aviv released the ultrasound examination of Israel’s Nuclear reactor that revealed 1,537 defects in the aluminum core of the Dimona.
Haaretz reported:
“Israel received its nuclear reactor from France at the end of the 1950s and it was put into operation for the first time at the end of 1963. Such reactors are intended to be operational for about 40 years, to ensure they remain in one piece. The main problem with aging reactors is that the core is irreplaceable. For political, scientific and economic reasons, Israel has no capability or desire to replace the core, an operation that would mean building a new reactor.”
Israel is not a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, thus monitors from the International Atomic Energy Agency have never been allowed access to the Dimona WMD Facility.
In 2015, The US-based Institute for Science and International Security estimated Israel had 115 nuclear warheads.
Recently released 1960s documents from the U.S. National Security Archive shed light on Israel’s attempts to hide details on its nuclear program. These documents include papers from the White House, the State Department, the Atomic Energy Commission and U.S. intelligence agencies.
A CIA’s National Intelligence Estimate on Israel from October 1961, reveal that Washington believed the Dimona reactor’s purpose was to create an infrastructure for nuclear weapons. The U.S. National Security Archive’s website contains many U.S. documents regarding Israel’s nuclear program.
On 15 April 2015, The National Security Archive of George Washington University published documents corroborating much of what Vanunu has been saying for thirty years!
These documents detail the discovery of Israel’s nuclear deceptions, debates over Israel’s lack of candor and efforts to pressure the Israelis to answer key questions about the Dimona during the Eisenhower years.
In the mid-1970’s, investigations into the illegal diversion of weapons-grade uranium from U.S. contractor NUMEC to Israel, Senators Stuart Symington and John Glenn amended the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act to ban ALL aid to nuclear powers that were not NPT signatories.
On 8 August 2016, Grant Smith the director of the Institute for Research: Middle East Policy, filed a lawsuit in Federal court because U.S. aid to Israel has been illegal under our own laws passed in the 1970’s which prohibits aid to nuclear powers who have not signed the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty.

Thank you NY Times for your consideration…
The auto-reply that the above email was received from Public Editor Liz Spayd stated:
My assistant and I read every message that we receive. Please note that this office deals specifically with issues of journalistic integrity and news judgment at The New York Times…
A search for “Mordechai Vanunu” at The New York Times online reveals the NYT reported a total of ten times on Mordechai Vanunu from 1986, 1987, 1999 and lastly in 2004 -a year before this American writer met Vanunu and became a reporter simply because THE MEDIA was NOT reporting on Vanunu’s human rights struggle and USA collusion in Israel’s nuclear deceptions [and military occupation of the indigenous Palestinians!]
This is the 4 June 2004, and last report by the New York Times regarding Vanunu:
Mordechai Vanunu, who was released in April after an 18-year prison term for divulging nuclear secrets, said he was appealing restrictions that included a ban on travel outside Israel. The government said it had imposed the measures because it believed Mr. Vanunu, a former nuclear technician, might try to divulge additional details about Israel’s nuclear program. Mr. Vanunu says he has no more secrets and wants to begin a new life abroad. ”Here there is hate and even danger to my life,” he said.
On the first 10 pages of a NYT search for “Israel, nuclear weapons” all the articles were in reference to Iran’s nuclear program- NOT one article in ten pages reported on Israel’s nuclear weapons!
This excerpt from UNCENSORED “30 Minutes with Vanunu” begins with Israel’s nuclear whistle blower speaking about “US Media, Washington and the West Bank are all under Zionist occupation”
The New York Times [and all corporate media] must submit to Israeli Military Censors before publishing any interviews with Vanunu [due to his being under restrictions] if they want to remain in good standing with Israel and that is one reason WHY The New York Times has NOT interviewed Vanunu.
WHY The New York Times has not reported on the reams of documents released under the Obama administration regarding Israel’s nuclear program is an “issue of journalistic integrity and news judgment” The New York Times needs to explain to retain credibility as America’s national “newspaper of record.”
As we enter the era of Trump this reporter for “The Newspaper of Record for the American Arab community” will persist to report news that is fit to print but which the MSM ignores HERE
