Israel Police Investigate Mordechai Vanunu: Will Stephen Colbert Play Ball?

On Wednesday Israel Police opened an investigation into whether Mordechai Vanunu’s fifteen minute Hebrew speaking interview with Israeli Channel 2 “may have breached terms of jail release in comments that were not aired.

“Channel 2 reported that the investigation was initiated at the request of the Shin Bet security service. It said that while all the material broadcast in the interview had been approved by Israel’s military censor, the police had asked for the full, unedited footage of the interview, apparently because it was suspected that Vanunu discussed matters he was barred from talking about.”

Background:

Dear Stephen Colbert with Thanks to Jon Stewart

Nuclear Whistle Blower Mordechai Vanunu Talks Mossad

As the writer who began documenting the saga of Mordechai Vanunu in June 2005 after meeting him in east Jerusalem, everything Vanunu said of importance over the last ten years and documentation of USA collusion in Israel’s Nuclear Deceptions is already on the Internet HERE and HERE!

lateshow

On Tuesday Stephen Colbert kept me awake all night after kicking off his first “Late Show” with a pitch perfect rendition of “The National Anthem.

Jon Stewart played ump and at the end of “the home of the BRAAAAVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEE” Jon yells “Play Ball!”

jonBS

I remained gleeful UNTIL Stephen’s first commercial pitch “enslaved to the hideous drone” who Colbert sold his soul to for he has become pitchman for Sabra Humus!

Sabra may taste great with chips and vegetables, but it also boosts the Israeli military while marketing hummus as exclusively Israeli.

In 2013, Alex Kane wrote for AlterNet:

American citizen gives $21.59 in military aid to Israel, according to the U.S. Campaign to End the Occupation. But that’s not the only way American citizens contribute to the Israeli military, which has occupied Palestinian land for 46 years, and the West Bank settlement project that accompanies the occupation.

Consumers may not know it, but buying products like Sabra hummus and Sodastream helps fuel Israel’s military control over Palestinians. Some companies have factories located in one of the 125 officially recognized settlements in occupied Palestine, which are illegal under international law.

Other companies contribute to the maintenance of an occupation through cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), whose main goal is to protect illegal settlements and exercise dominion over the lives of millions of Palestinians. Buying these products gives profits to companies who exploit Palestinian land and resources.

Sabra hummus is partly owned by an Israeli company named the Strauss Group, which has “adopted” an elite IDF unit. (PepsiCo also owns Sabra.) The company’s website has boasted of providing the Golani Brigade “with an ongoing variety of food products for their training or missions, and provide personal care packages for each soldier that completes the path.”

The Strauss Group has also said it gives funds to the IDF unit for “welfare, cultural and educational activities, such as pocket money for underprivileged soldiers, sports and recreational equipment, care packages, and books and games for the soldiers’ club.”

While that language is no longer found on the Strauss Group website, the company still defends the IDF. In 2011, Ofta Strauss, the company’s chairwoman, told Forbes magazine that “Israeli soldiers are not army; Israeli soldiers are our kids.”

The Golani Brigade played key roles in the Israeli army’s assault on the Gaza Strip in 2008-09 during “Operation Cast Lead.” Widespread human rights abuses and possible war crimes were committed by the Israeli army during the assault.

According to a Wall Street Journal article:

“Sabra doesn’t disclose financial data, but IRI data show its hummus sales were about $315 million last year, up about 18%. And because some retailers, including Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST), don’t provide information to IRI, the figures understate Sabra’s retail sales.”

However, hope returned to The Late Show when George Clooney came out and began to speak about the need of putting attention and keeping it there regarding genocide in Dafur;

But Colbert changed the topic to Clooney’s wife and hope was dashed again!

Things got better with “Decision Strike” a “non-movie” by Colbert and Clooney when the “whole world is at the brink of destruction” and only George can diffuse that “Nuclear bomb!”

The truly “amazing unbelievable incredible thing” is there are just so many better things Colbert and Clooney could be talking about;

Such as the following video reports by this Senior Non-Arab Correspondent for USA’s The Arab Daily News.

GIMMEE SOME TRUTH

But first this suggestion to Stephen regarding presidential candidates, please ask them about Israel’s WMD and display Vanunu’s 1985 photos of Israel’s Nuclear Dimona on The Late Show’s giant screen behind their heads:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nSOlG6Wpr8

In this excerpt from “30 Minutes with Vanunu” he addresses State Torture by Solitary

In this excerpt from “30 Minutes with Vanunu”   he invites “Hillary Clinton and all the Christians to come and see the real Wailing Wall: the Apartheid Wall”

Your humble correspondent and this Senior Non-Arab Correspondent for USA’s The Arab Daily News still has HOPE Stephen Colbert will REPORT what the USA Media will NOT!

HOPE has two children. The first is ANGER at the way things are. The second is COURAGE to Do something about it.-slight paraphrase of St. Augustine
