Mandy Patinkin for Israeli Prime Minister Stephen Colbert for SECURITY
By Eileen Fleming
On Tuesday Mandy Patinkin announced on The Colbert Report that he wants to run for Prime Minister of Israel after the fourth season of Homeland.
In the series Mandy Patinkin plays CIA Middle-East Division Chief Saul Berenson and he prefaced his announcement with serious comments about the Middle East and then offered Stephen a solution and job opportunity:
Given the state of the world and its epicenter, which I feel is the Middle East …
I am going to tear a page out of your book; your presidential campaign book;
I am going to enter myself to be possibly elected as the new Prime Minister of Israel.
I would like to suggest, that given your right-wing point of view on occasion, that you would be my security adviser, because security is paramount in that part of the world.
Therefore I feel with you as the head of security and me as the head of moral and ethical attitude to humanity, the combination of the two might calm the region, into on occasion laughing at itself.
Patinkin also spoke about Nelson Mandela and apartheid in South Africa.
At the end, Patinkin cradled Colbert in his lap and told America that everything was going to be all OK
If I can’t laugh it’s not my revolution…
