Steve Bannon has no experience as an elected official or even working for one. On Friday at CPAC, Steve Bannon renamed the mainstream media “The Corporatist Globalist Media.”

In Mr. Bannon’s populist worldview, the United States’ traditional embrace of globalism is against American interests and could only have been orchestrated by powerful elites.

Those elites include the corporate news media — who are “globalist” for their embrace of trade and immigration, and “corporatist” for serving the business interests that are presumed to benefit at Americans’ expense.

Mr. Bannon called the news media the “opposition party,” characterizing it as innately hostile to the Trump administration and therefore deserving of neither trust nor transparency.

Mr. Bannon believes sites like Breitbart represents the people. President Trump agrees for he sees corporate media as the “enemy of the American people.”
