Israeli killings of more than 800 civilians in destruction of hospital and six mosques in Gaza denounced world wide

The following are statements from international and American-based organization denouncing the indiscriminate murder of nearly 800 Palestinian civilians, mostly injured patients, women and children, buildings targeted by Israel’s bombing and destruction of a hospital and six mosques in the Gaza Strip

The American Human Rights Council

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. With the passing of every hour, Israel has been killing and injuring countless innocent people in Gaza while inflicting nightmarish destruction on Gaza. The bombardment of Al-MAMADANI hospital earlier today killed over 800 innocent including children, women, doctors, and nurses, transforming the hospital into a graveyard. This is a war crime.

The reports and the images that the world is witnessing are heartbreaking and shock the conscience in the savagery of the Israeli killing machine. The Israeli military revenge on Gaza has exceeded all bounds. Even savage beasts wouldn’t commit the crimes Israel is committing against Gaza.

This mass scale slaughter has been aided by the American unlimited support of Israel. The Biden Administration is the only power that can halt and end this Israeli genocidal war against innocent Palestinians. We call on all people of good conscience to work together to put a stop to this carnage.

AHRC Mission:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC) is dedicated to defending and protecting human rights as outlined in the U.S. Constitution and the United Nations 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The AHRC was formed to protect these rights and advocate for anyone whose rights are being violated or denied. To that end, the AHRC will build a tenacious, objective, and carefully guided advocacy program that will serve to defend individual human rights, whenever and wherever they are being infringed upon.

Doctors without Borders

Here at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), we are grieving the widespread suffering and death stemming from the eruption of full-scale war in Israel and Gaza. We are calling for all parties to the conflict to ensure the safety of civilians and medical facilities.

As an independent and impartial humanitarian organization, MSF delivers emergency medical care where the needs for our expertise are greatest—regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or politics.
We are also an international movement made up of people from more than 169 nationalities working in more than 70 countries. Many of our staff here at MSF-USA have friends, family, and loved ones in Israel, Gaza, or both, for whom we are deeply worried. All of us have colleagues working right now in Gaza delivering lifesaving medical care to people caught in the crossfire.

As executive director of MSF-USA, my team and I have been receiving a number of questions about MSF’s response in the region and how we are helping to save lives. Read on below to learn about our response and our commitment to providing independent medical humanitarian care.

– Avril Benoît, executive director of MSF-USA

American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is outraged and horrified at Israel’s targeted bombing of Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza. Over 1,000 Palestinians have already been reported as killed, and hundreds more have been injured. Hospitals in Gaza have already struggled with lack of medicine, medical equipment and other resources since Israel started its indiscriminate bombardment of Gaza, a catastrophe further exacerbated by Israel cutting off food, water and electricity. Targeting hospitals is the lowest form of depravity and crimes against humanity. Israel attacked the sick and injured, newborn infants, and families seeking refuge.

The lack of accountability for Israel’s crimes for over 75 years has empowered Israel not only to occupy, collectively punish and kill besieged people, but also to bomb hospitals with total impunity.

President Biden must call for an immediate ceasefire, stop funding and arming Israel and, once and for all, hold them accountable.

American Task Force on Lebanon

Washington, DC, October 17th, 2023 The American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) condemns Hamas’ horrendous attack on Israel on October 7th, including the mass killing and abduction of Israeli citizens. Israel’s subsequent imposition of a siege on Gaza, in response to the terrorist attack, must now stop: it endangers the lives of innocent civilians by depriving them of goods essential for their survival and compounds an already dire humanitarian situation. We urge both parties to deescalate the situation by, among other measures, ceasing hostilities and releasing hostages and prisoners. We call on all parties to respect international law.

Instead of the continuation of this war, US leadership needs to chart more forcefully a path towards Palestinian statehood, and press for more lasting peace between Israel and Palestine within a two-state solution framework. It is now time for the US to lead with a sense of determination and equity.

ATFL’s mission is to enhance the US-Lebanon bilateral relationship. It is in this regard that we call on Hezbollah to refrain from any further aggression that would escalate the conflict with Israel. Any such action risks the longstanding relationship between the US and Lebanon. Lebanese authorities must demand that Hezbollah and others avoid inflaming the situation and not subject Lebanon any further to regional conflicts. Hezbollah should also understand that they will be held responsible by the Lebanese people and international community for any resulting physical destruction and innocent Lebanese casualties if they instigate hostile action on the Lebanon-Israel border.

Finally, we applaud the appointment of Ambassador David Satterfield as Special Envoy for Middle East Humanitarian Issues. We hope that his leadership will prompt a renewed focus on Lebanon, which has faced a massive influx of Syrian refugees due to the ongoing civil war in Syria. Lebanon currently hosts the largest number of refugees on a per capita basis of any country in the world and, as such, is experiencing additional economic distress. Ambassador Satterfield’s responsibilities should include helping alleviate the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon, in addition to his responsibilities with regard to the Gaza humanitarian crisis.

ATFL stands ready to facilitate a common understanding between the US and Lebanon that both protects Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability, and leads to a cessation of hostilities in the region.

Churches for Middle East Peace

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

Today Christians around the world followed the call of the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem for a day of prayer and fasting for peace and reconciliation and an end to the war between Israel and Hamas. Even as we pray, we find ourselves confronting immense pain and a devastating death toll after the bombing of Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, an Anglican hospital in Gaza. Al-Ahli Arab Hospital has provided a critical and courageous ministry of health care provision to serve the people of Gaza for many years.

We are shocked, outraged, and devastated by an air strike on the Anglican Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, leaving at least 500 dead and thousands more injured or unaccounted for. Our hearts are deeply grieved at hearing this news. We express our deepest condolences and ask that the Lord be with the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, staff, and all people affected by the bombing of Al-Ahli Hospital. We join in lament and prayers that God will come alongside and comfort all people who are suffering, and support Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem, in his pastoral care and leadership.

This attack is a grave violation of international law, and it is an affront to our shared humanity. This attack is the second on Al-Ahli hospital in the past few days. These attacks on civilians, including children and the elderly, must stop. The indiscriminate bombing of places of refuge must stop. The dehumanization of vulnerable people must stop. The people of Gaza are suffering, and they have almost no options for much-needed medical treatment or surgeries, or for receiving pain and other medications.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby issued a statement in response to the October 14th bombing of Al-Ahli Hospital that was damaged by Israeli rocket fire. He warned then that hospitals and patients in Gaza were in “grave danger” and appealed that the evacuation order issued by Israel on hospitals in northern Gaza be reversed.

CMEP calls on President Joe Biden in his meetings with Middle Eastern leaders, including with Prime Minister Netanyahu, to demand the establishment of humanitarian corridors in Gaza to allow for needed humanitarian aid to flow to populations in critical need. All efforts must be made during the President’s visit to pursue an immediate ceasefire and begin to address the root causes of the suffering.

We once again urge the President and Congress to:

1. Publicly call for ceasefire, de-escalation, and restraint by all sides.
2. Call on all parties to abide by the laws of war, including the Geneva Conventions and customary international law.
3. Prioritize steps to secure the immediate release of hostages and ensure international protection for civilians.

Atrocities against civilians are never justified. We join with the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem as they declare a day of mourning in all of their churches and institutions. We heed their call to stand in solidarity, mourning with them for the heinous assault on their dedicated staff and vulnerable patients.

Formed in 1984, Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is a coalition of more than 30 national church communions and organizations, including Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, and Evangelical traditions that works to encourage US policies that actively promote a comprehensive resolution to conflicts in the Middle East with a focus on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. CMEP works to mobilize US Christians to embrace a holistic perspective and to be advocates of equality, human rights, security, and justice for Israelis, Palestinians, and all people of the Middle East.

American Friends of Combatants for Peace

(AFCP recalled their earlier statement and issued the following statement:)

We are sending a correction to the last email we sent out. Reputable news agencies previously reported that Israel bombed Al-Ahli Anglican hospital. Since we sent out the email, these news agencies have changed their assessments of the events that took place. We apologize for sharing this unconfirmed information.

While the truth regarding who is responsible for the hospital attack is still unclear, we do know that innocent lives are being lost. We grieve every Israeli and Palestinian life that is being taken as a result of the ongoing violence. We call for the protection of all civilians – both Israelis and Palestinians.

The movement believes that there is another way. We hope you will join us with CfP activists for a Zoom meeting on Friday to hear from those on the ground. Registration details will be sent out tomorrow.
In solidarity,
Tiffany Goodwin-Van Camp, Executive Director
Lindsay Stanek, Communications & Development Manager
