Israelis and Palestinians will protest in the Jerusalem Marathon
This upcoming Friday, 17th of March, the Jerusalem Marathon will be held, marking 50 years to the “unification” of the city. Palestinian public committees along with Free Jerusalem group are organizing a protest in front of the marathon. We wish to remind the residents and the participants that Jerusalem is not a united city in which sports and cultural activities are neutral, but rather it is a city of which part is under occupation.
The marathon presents Jerusalem as a normal, cosmopolitan city, and many foreigners participate in the race. The route of the marathon as in previous years extends beyond the 1967 seamline and disrupts the lives of many Palestinians, who are not party to the celebration.
On Friday, 17.3.17 we will stand between 9:00 and 10:00 on the corner of Antara Ben Shadad street with Heyl Ha’handasa (on the seamline, road 60, near Damascus gate).
