Her Majesty Queen Noor speaks of global peace and humanitarianism at Judson University’s World Leaders Forum

Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan captivated a crowd of 450 people who gathered for the World Leaders Forum today at Judson University. A world-renowned humanitarian activist, Queen Noor addressed topics such as Syrian refugees, water supply and women’s empowerment issues in the Middle East, and global peace.

“Peace lives not in the hands of governments, but in the hands of people,” she said. “Where real investments have been made in human rights and human security, I have seen people flourish as agents of change. For societies, economies and nations to thrive, people must thrive.”

Queen Noor also answered questions from Judson students and general audience members. The subjects included the greatest challenges facing Middle East leaders today, how the United States can best promote peace in the Arab world, and what legacy Queen Noor wants to have.

“Hearing the message of a well-respected, global human rights leader at a time of so much questioning and unrest is not only relevant, but immensely valuable,” said Judson University President Dr. Gene Crume. “Our hope today is that her perspective inspires more thought and conversation in our community on the important topics she covered.”

The World Leaders Forum also includes an exclusive evening reception in downtown Chicago, where forum sponsors and public officials meet and hear more from Queen Noor following the main event at Judson.

“Hearing from a world leader like Queen Noor is inherently exciting and fills me with awe. The World Leaders Forum is a blessing for Judson students, as it presents opportunities to learn from influential people who have shaped the world,” said Faith Gazdzicki, a Judson sophomore and a World Leaders Forum scholar.

Proceeds from the World Leaders Forum support Judson student scholarships and an entrepreneurship fund. Now in its second academic year, the scholarship program provides the most prestigious scholarship that a Judson University student can receive, with only five recipients selected per year. Student scholars receive leadership training and financial aid based on their academic merit, leadership qualities, and financial need. In order to be eligible, a student must show attributes of entrepreneurship, creativity, leadership, innovation, mission and faith.

This was Judson University’s sixth annual World Leaders Forum. Previous keynote speakers include former President George W. Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev, United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Mexican President Felipe Calderón.
