PLO Washington Rep denounces Israeli settlement expansion

The General Delegation of the PLO to the United States Strongly Condemns Israel’s Decision To Build New Settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem

The General Delegation of the PLO to the United States strongly condemns Israel’s decision to build new settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Israel declared today that it plans to construct over 2550 settlement housing units across the West Bank and East Jerusalem on illegal Palestinian territories .

The Israeli government’s decision to build new settlements directly contradicts the recent UN Resolution 2334 as well as Netanyahu’s statements concerning his support for the two-state solution. Israeli decisions and actions are part of a pattern of total disregard for the United States’ and the International Community’s position regarding the illegal Israeli settlements.

We urge the international community including the United States to unequivocally express their opposition towards such actions and to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law, and to undertake serious measures to bring about a full cessation of all settlement activities in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
