Muslim Scholars denounce ISIL Islamic State and leader

By Ray Hanania

It never fails that Americans and many anti-Arab and anti-Muslim haters always demand, “Why don’t Arabs and Muslims denounce terrorism and extremism?”

They do, but you are not looking and you don’t care. And sure enough this week, 126 prominent Muslim scholars issued a lengthy letter denouncing the so-called “Islamic State” and ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) and its terrorist war criminal leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, whose real name is Dr. Ibrahim Awwad Al-Badri.

The letter doesn’t mince words and details how the brutal murder of innocent people is a violation of fundamental Islamic principles. The leaders include heads of state, representatives of the most recognized Islamic institutions such as al-Azhar, renown Islamic scholars, and the leaders of major international Islamic organizations.

(Click here to read the complete 23 page PDF letter that can be downloaded.)

The Executive Summary of the letter spells out the 24 principles which the terrorist al-Baghdadi has violated and continues to violate in his oppressive and brutal massacres of innocent civilians throughout Iraq and Syria.

The letter exposes the lack of knowledge that the terrorist al-Baghdadi has regarding Islam. In fact, ISIL leader al-Baghdadi seems to reflect only the inaccurate knowledge that is often embraced by anti-Arab and anti-Muslim haters in the West and especially in the United States, which al-Baghdadi has targeted in his rambling messages.

The truth is that every terrorist, be they Muslim, Christian or Jewish claim to murder innocent people int he name of justice, righteousness and the rule of law. But they are all liars. Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been criticized as a war criminal for the murder of more than 2,100 civilians including more than 500 children including babies and infants, one of the most horrific things that has been done in the Middle East. But politics protects the murderers and while Americans, for example, denounce the vicious beheadings of innocent people by ISIL and al-Baghdadi, they are silent on the murder of children and babies because those innocent lives are Arab and Muslim.

Many people also view former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney as war criminals, too, for the vicious massacre of thousands of innocent civilians during the March 19, 2003 invasion of Iraq to secure the oil fields for Cheney’s company, Halliburton. But again, politics twists and turns facts to defend the killers and murderers.

The real issue is American and Western hypocrisy and the corruption of the mainstream news media. Violence and terrorism are vicious crimes, but so is the murder of innocent civilians.

At least in the Middle East and the Islamic World, where violence and terrorism was exported from Western countries like Britain, France, Russia and the United States, their leaders openly and widely denounce terrorism and violence with principle and morality. It’s something American leaders need to learn themselves.
