CAIR-MA Calls for Hate Crime Probe of ‘Nazi’ Vandalism Targeting Boston Palestinian, Islamic Sign

Arabs and Muslims are being targeted by racist hatred in wake of Hamas violence and Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip. But American police agencies and politicians are calling only for protections for Jewish citizens and synagogues at many U.S. cities. No calls for protection of Arabs and Muslims in America has yet been made

By Ray Hanania

American politicians and police agencies have issued directives to provide increased security at synagogues and other Jewish religious and civilian institutions, but have made no similar announcements and taken actions to protect Arabs and Muslims who are the subjects of increase racism and discrimination int he wake of the Hamas violence and Israelis retaliatory war crimes.

Politicians are hypocritically denouncing Hamas violence while being silent on violence by Israel’s government which has taken more than 1,500 Palestinian civilian lives over the past several years prior to the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks in Southern Israel.

During the first six months of 2023, Israeli soldiers and settlers have killed more than 230 Palestinian civilians, including women and children, and destroyed dozens of homes.

Some Arabs argue that the Hamas violence was provoked by the world silence on Israel’s violence against Palestinians.

Because of mainstream American news media bias, many acts of anti-Arab racism and anti-Arab violence are not being reported are are being muted.

Thankfully CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, which monitors hate crimes and civil and human rights abuses against Arabs and Muslims and all people, and other civil rights organizations like ADC (American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee) are documenting incidents of anti-Arab racism and violence that is being ignored by many American politicians and the U.S. news media.

I applaud CAIR and ADC for the vigilance and their steadfast refusal to be silent int he face of the wave of racist hypocrisy. I am so proud of those organizations and encourage the Arab and Muslim community to support them both and not to be silenced by the wave of anti-Arab and anti-Muslim hatred being fomented by both the Republican and Democratic parties, the administration of President Joe Biden and by the U.S. State Department and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The following in a press release from CAIR detailing a hate crime targeting Muslim in Boston. This is just one of a dozen incidents being reported across the United States.

CAIR PRESS RELEASE

The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on law enforcement authorities to investigate vandalism targeting a sign for Palestinian and Islamic organizations in Boston as a possible hate crime.

The word “Nazis” was reportedly spray-painted on a sign for the Islamic Seminary of Boston and the Palestinian Cultural Center for Peace.

Earlier today, CAIR’s national office in Washington, D.C., urged houses of worship and human rights activists engaging in protests to take security precautions after a surge in racist, hateful and threatening rhetoric online, as well as inflammatory comments by political leaders.

“We urge state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate this disturbing incident as a hate crime,” said CAIR-MA Executive Director Tahirah Amatul-Wadud.

“All Americans, whatever their faith or ethnicity, should be free from acts of intimidation and hate.”

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
