Kuwait Donates $1 Million to ANERA to help Palestinian Children
ANERA (American Near East Refugee Aid) is pleased to announce a donation of $1 million from the government of Kuwait to fund ANERA’s work with Palestinian communities. The generous contribution enables ANERA to support a range of significant projects serving Palestinian communities in the West Bank and Gaza.
Kuwait’s ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah presented the donation to ANERA President Bill Corcoran. “During this time of regional violence, we are especially mindful that the families of Gaza have suffered both physical and psychological damage. Kuwait has been a steadfast supporter of the Palestinian people and especially concerned about the welfare of children,” said Ambassador Al-Sabah. “My government is impressed by ANERA’s work with Palestinian families and wants to continue to support its programs.”
Part of the donation will help fund immediate relief efforts as well as longer-term health care and education projects. Economists recognize that investing particularly in young children is one of the most important investments a society can make.
“Kuwait’s generous gift strengthens ANERA’s capacity to care for Palestinians especially Palestinian children who are most vulnerable during times of crisis,” explained ANERA president Bill Corcoran. “They are the building block for the next generation and are always our priority concern in terms of our care and support.”
This is the fourth of Kuwait’s continuous contributions for work with Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza. Earlier $1 million gifts helped ANERA operate feeding programs, expand early childhood development projects, supply crucial medicines to area hospitals and renovate more than 40 preschools in Gaza and the West Bank.
Kuwait’s investment in these and other development projects are helping to improve living conditions and prepare Palestinians for a better future.
