Canadians for Justice and Peace in Palestine release new video series
Previously we wrote to you in detail about our new video series titled Oppression 101. With this series, we hope to make it easier for you to share the brutality of Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians with your friends.
Today, we release Oppression 101 “Cultural Genocide” – the second, of twelve, 45-second videos. Each video builds on historically marginalized groups from around the world and shows how the oppression and suffering of the Palestinians today is similar to these historic tragedies.
“Cultural Genocide” draws parallels between Israel’s financial pressure on Palestinian schools in occupied East Jerusalem and Canada’s “Residential Schools.” Canada used residential schools to erase all traditional culture and history from indigenous children. Israel now seeks to incentivize Palestinian schools in East Jerusalem to drop their Palestinian curriculum, and teach the official Israeli state-sanctioned curriculum, including Israeli history and civics.
