Abdul for Michigan airs first TV Campaign Ad “The People’s Summer”
Ad features Little Miss Flint and Shaun King at campaign rally
Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign for Michigan Governor begins airing its first television ad of the gubernatorial primary.
The 30-second advertisement features Dr. Abdul El-Sayed speaking at a rally in Detroit alongside prominent social justice activists Shaun King and Mari Copeny (AKA “Little Miss Flint”).
The end of the advertisement invites viewers to visit ThePeoplesSummer.com, and join the volunteer movement the campaign has created, amassing over 3,000 volunteers and knocking on over 100,000 doors.
“Our campaign is about people coming together to break the chokehold that corporations and millionaires have had on our politics. That’s why we are asking real people to join us for the People’s Summer – a movement building to bring Government back to our country’s ideals: for the People, by the People,” said Abdul El-Sayed.
“This ad is doing something that has never been done before: giving viewers the opportunity to join a movement to take back our politics. We are honored to be joined by Mari Copeny, whose big heart has inspired all of us to fight for justice for Flint, and Shaun King, whose activism speaks to everything we stand for: economic opportunity, racial justice, and a better future that includes ALL Michiganders,” said Adam Joseph, El-Sayed’s Communications Director.
“Abdul has already proved he is for the kids and this is why I choose to support him, he cares about the kids like me,” said Mari Copeny (AKA “Little Miss Flint”).
“Abdul is not just fresh and new. That’s not enough. He’s smart and compassionate. He’s skilled and strategic. He’s courageous. He cares about all of Michigan and will put the state on the path to be being a beacon of equality and fairness. I believe in Abdul and will fight my heart out to help him help Michigan!” said Shaun King.
