American Human Rights Council launches annual program to support prisoners in commemoration of Ramadan. Donations will help prisoners and families of prisoners.
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) based in Greater Detroit will launch their “No Prisoners Left Behind” program which seeks to provide support to prisoners and their families during the month of Ramadan.
Ramadan, the annual Islamic religious celebration which requires Muslims to rededicate themselves to their faith, is anticipated to begin on Thursday June 15 this year.
“Ramadan is a time when people celebrate our common humanity through reflection, sharing, caring and giving,” said Dr. Opada Alzohaili, AHRC president.
“Our ‘No Prisoners Left Behind’ program seeks to extend help to those who are less fortunate and who are separated from their families and loved ones during this special time of the year. Those unfortunate fellow humans who are behind bars should not be forgotten. They have families and children who are anxiously awaiting the end of their incarceration.” Said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director.
This year’s program will continue the goal of seeking donations and support to “help bring a smile to a prisoner in jail and bring some hope to those behind bars.”
“It is time to show the families and especially the kids who have been deprived from their parent or parents that common good is strong and the hope for the better tomorrow is there,” the Hamad stressed.
The AHRC frequently cites the quote from Mother Teresa, who said, “We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.”
AHRC calls upon all people of good will to be part of this special Ramadan gift program.
A $100 donation, or a gift of any amount that is affordable, would help alleviate the stress and pressure not only on the prisoners but also on their families and their spouses and children.
It will help those behind bars connect with the outside world embracing our common humanity. AHRC asks all to help promote this Prisoner & Family Ramadan Gift program. Nothing is more noble than helping others at the time of dire need. Nothing can be like advancing the hope of the hopeless.
