Marvet M. Sweis Drnovsek of Levin & Perconti Receives “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty” Honor

Marvet M. Sweis Drnovsek, an associate attorney at Levin & Perconti, has been named as one of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s “40 Illinois attorneys under 40 to watch.”

This award honors the top “40 Under Forty” Illinois attorneys under the age of 40, for their outstanding achievements on behalf of clients, their contributions to the legal profession, and their commitment to their community. Recipients are nominated by other lawyers, including judges and opposing counsel. The Law Bulletin receives over twelve hundred nominations each year. Marvet is the fifth attorney from Levin & Perconti to receive this recognition in the past six years.

Marvet joined Levin & Perconti in 2011.  As the firm’s Director of Intake and Case Management, Marvet has a unique and crucial role with the firm.  Marvet speaks with hundreds of potential clients every month. She has an uncanny ability to quickly and efficiently learn the information necessary to determine the appropriate course of action while at the same time realizing that each new potential client deserves her patience and understanding during what is undoubtedly a difficult time in his or her life. She is a top decision maker and gate keeper responsible for determining which potential cases the firm will investigate. This role requires an unmatched understanding of a variety of medical and professional liability issues to determine if new matters should be investigated further. Some of the cases Marvet has worked on includes a $3 million verdict in a drowning death case, a $750,000 settlement in a nursing home neglect case, and a $410,000 settlement in a medical malpractice case for an 89-year-old woman.

She was also elected to the board of the Arab-American Bar Association of Illinois. She was appointed by the Honorable Judge William J. Haddad to serve on the Executive Board of the AM-VOTE Political Action Committee, where she also serves as Chair of the Youth Committee.

Marvet is a member of the Arab-American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, American Bar Association of Illinois, The John Marshall Law School’s Career Advisory Board, and the Mother McAuley Law Society. She has also presented for the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education on the “Intake Process” and for the Illinois Department on Aging on “Enforcing Elder Rights.” Marvet was also was named an Illinois Super Lawyers: Rising Star in 2014 and 2015, an honor awarded to less than 2.5% of lawyers in Illinois, in addition to being named to a list of Emerging Leaders by Leading Lawyers this year.

Marvet attended Saint Germaine Elementary School in Oak Lawn, IL. She graduated from Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in 2000, where she currently serves as a member of the Mother McAuley Law Society, advocating for the empowerment and advancement of young women. Marvet graduated from DePaul University in 2004, where she received a dual bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology, with a concentration in Human Services. She graduated from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 2011, where she was named to the Dean’s List and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity. She currently lives in Oak Lawn with her husband Demijan, partner at Matthew & Drnovsek Law, and they are expecting their first baby in December!
