Sam Rasoul discusses Arab political empowerment; Rateb Rabie discusses fate of Middle East Christians

4 pm CST: Ray Hanania, host of Talk of the Town Radio show on www.YalahaVoice.com and WCEV 1450 AM Radio, interviews Virginia 11th District Delegate (State legislator) Sam Rasoul on his political career and his successful election in November 2013 and his election coming up in November 2015. Rasoul talks about the issues and the importance of American Arabs engaging in politics. He also discusses how anti-Arab racism and hate were used int he final days of his campaign by his opponent who libelously accused him of being associated with al-Qaeda and Islamic extremists. Despite the attack, Rasoul was easily elected.

4:30 pm Hanania expresses his views on the firing of Steven Salaita and the role of University of Illinois Board Chairman Christopher Kennedy calling for Kennedy’s firing by Gov. Pat Quinn. Only one trustee at the UIUC Board, James Montgomery, voted to honor the job offer that was denied to Salaita over his criticism, posted on his Twitter account, against the government of Israel.
4:50 pm Hanania interviews the President of the Holy Land Ecumenical Foundation Sir Rateb Rabie about the  appearance of Texas Senator Ted Cruz at a so-called conference on Middle East Christians. Cruz viciously attacked Arab Christians when some in the audience booed his assertions that criticism of Israel is anti-Semitism. Yesterday staff from NRC Lebanon’s Bekaa office were working with refugees to put in place flood mitigation measures in advance of the forecast harsh storm which hit overnight. Field teams distributed 1,205 plywood sheets and 885 bricks as floor-raising kits for tents in two settlements in the town of Sarain, and 250 wooden pallets to ensure a clear pathway in five settlements in the town at risk of flooding. Niamh Murnaghan, NRC’s Country Director in Lebanon said, “This morning residents of these informal settlements awoke to a knee-deep blanket of snow.
