Saudis arrest 13 suspects and prevent terrorist attack
Saudi Arabia Foils ISIS Terrorist Attack on Intelligence Center in Zulfi, Arrests 13 Terrorists
Saudi security authorities arrested on Monday 13 terrorists who were planning to carry out criminal attacks, targeting the Kingdom’s security and its capabilities. According to the spokesman of the Presidency of State Security, the arrests were made as a preemptive security operation as a result of follow-up action. Security officials seized huge cache of arms and explosives from their hideout.
In related news, the official spokesman of the Presidency of State Security disclosed that security authorities successfully foiled a terrorist attack on Sunday targeting an intelligence center in Zulfi Province, North of Riyadh. In a statement, the spokesman added that a terrorist group belonging to Daesh (so-called Islamic State), attempted to storm the building, affirming that security authorities at the location managed to confront the attackers, and dealt with them as required according to the situation, killing all four terrorists, while three security personnel suffered minor injuries.
The Presidency officials found that their hideout had been converted into a factory for manufacturing explosives and suicide belts. There were five suicide belts, of which four were used by the slain terrorists, while the fifth one was found inside their car. The seized explosives and arms from their hideout included 64 homemade grenades, 61 pipe plumbing joint for manufacturing pipe bombs, three pressure cookers that are ready for detonation, two Kalashnikov machine gun, six pistols, 11 knives, four bags containing 74.9 kg of organic fertilizers, materials for manufacturing explosives, chemicals, set of screws that were equipped with shrapnel, in addition to a laptop, three mobile phones, a wireless set, several ATM cards, two national identity cards, a papers containing the will of one of the perpetrators, a number of pamphlets, and 11 CD-ROMs with content related to the terrorist organization Daesh (so-called IS).
The statement goes on to say that the cowardly act carried out by these terrorists has revealed their utter betrayal, deep-rooted hatred, and intrinsic criminality, which led them to adopt sick beliefs propagated by a dark organization that calls for bloodshed, the loss of innocent lives, and the spread of corruption.
The Presidency of State Security affirmed its continued determination to confront such criminal schemes, and anyone who attempts to tamper with the security of the country.
