This Florida based reporter contacted Senator Marco Rubio immediately after hearing him claim Mr. Trump’s televised call from the White House lawn to China was “not a real request” to investigate Joe Biden and his son.

The Subject line announced: “A Real Request” and the body of my message sent through Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s website included a plea that he grow a spine and support the impeachment INQUIRY, and be a patriotic leader as understood by the Republican President Theodore Roosevelt who wrote:

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country.

In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.

Last Thursday on the White House lawn Trump bellowed to reporters: “China should start an investigation into the Bidens, because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine.”

Trump’s ‘facts’ come from debunked conspiracy theories that claim the former vice president — and Trump’s leading contender for the Democratic nomination in 2020 — corruptly used the power of his office to boost his son’s business interests in Ukraine and China.
