Gaza music school survives despite Israeli assault
By Mohammed Asad
The Gaza Music School was established in 2008 and came under direct bombardment during Israel’s 2008 war on the civilians of the Gaza Strip. The school sustained major damage including to its collection of musical instruments used by the students.
Despite the assault, students still continue to come to school and learn music.
Israeli officials prevent students from participating in music festivals at the level of Palestine, or to meet with their colleagues in the West Bank, Jerusalem, for two consecutive years for the mutual benefit of playing and experience in music festivals.
