Peace Now advocates film on Palestinian children healthcare needs

Americans for Peace Now is urging the public to help support a documentary that details how Palestinian doctors are receiving support from Israeli doctors to provide health care, especially for children with heart ailments. A Crowdfunding campaign has been launched to complete the film which has received support from across the Palestine-Israel divide

Children should not have to suffer because of the circumstances or actions of their parents. Yet thousands of children living in Palestine who are born with heart defects are unable to receive critical medical care inside Israel because their parents are denied entry due to security or other reasons.

What if Palestinian doctors were able to train with doctors inside Israel and to take their practice back home? Fortunately, this effort is taking place, thanks to some extraordinary individuals on both sides of the barrier. By working together to save lives, theirs is an inspiring story that has the power to cause Palestinians and Israelis to see each other in a new light, and to bridge the divide.

Now, a documentary film to promote this initiative is attempting to be made. A crowdfunding campaign has been launched as of this moment to finance the film, Healing Hearts (French version: Une Histoire de Coeurs), which director Katya Chelli and her producer Julien Tricard will be shooting from the beginning of November to the first week of December. In addition, the project’s Facebook page can be viewed here.

The documentary project has already been endorsed by several luminaries, including famed Israeli author and intellectual, Amos Oz, a founder and longtime supporter of Peace Now.

By chipping in, you will also be helping Peace Now, since a percentage of the profits will be donated in turn to our movement.

We at Peace Now understand the importance of positive Israeli-Palestinian people-to-people interactions in shaping each people’s perceptions of one another. We wholeheartedly endorse this film project, and hope that you will contribute to its production to shed light on this critical grassroots work, and the hope it can inspire.
