420 (pronounced four-twenty) refers to the consumption of cannabis

On Trump’s Inaugural Day, the DC Cannabis Coalition will be handing out 4,200 free cannabis joints— to urge federal legalization of pot

By Eileen Fleming

Donald Trump’s inaugural celebrations are open to the public.

On January 20, beginning at 8 a.m. on the west side of Dupont Circle in the nation’s capital, where recreational marijuana is legal, the DC Cannabis Coalition will greet the public with 4,200 free cannabis joints to carry to their destination at the National Mall.

The public will be encouraged to light up at 4 minutes and 20 seconds into Trump’s speech.

Adam Eidinger, the founder of the DC Cannabis Coalition explained:

We are going to tell them that if they smoke on federal property, they are risking arrest. But, that’s a form of civil disobedience.

If someone wants to do it, they are risking arrest, but it’s a protest and you know what, the National Mall is a place for protest.

The main message is it’s time to legalize cannabis at the federal level. We don’t want any money exchanged whatsoever. This is really a gift for people who come to Washington, D.C.

If there are people from Texas, some Cowboys fan, who is walking down the street in a cowboy hat and a big fur coat and he walks up to our demonstration, I want him to feel welcome coming to D.C.

Eidinger and other D.C. residents spearheaded Initiative 71 that made it legal to possess up to 2 ounces of cannabis, to grow it, and to give it away, but NOT sell it.

Regarding Jeff Sessions, Mr. Trump’s pick for attorney general, Eidinger said: “We are looking at a guy who as recently as April said that they are going to enforce federal law on marijuana all over the country. He said marijuana is dangerous.”

The Israeli Connection

In the 1960s Israeli scientist Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, using confiscated Lebanese hashish that he obtained from the police led to his identifing the cannabis plant’s key compounds: Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Mechoulam convinced Israel’s Ministry of Health to establish a medical cannabis program. In 1992, the ministry approved medical marijuana.

Today Israelis can fill prescriptions to treat pain, PTSD, epilepsy, cancer, Parkinsons Disease and the list continues to grow.

In a 2012 interview Mechoulam stated: “Working in a small country certainly has its positive aspects. It couldn’t have happened in the United States, because the laws were too strict.”

PLEASE view Raphael Mechoulam in “420 Marijuana Documentary Cannabis Research Studies 2014”

From The 10,000-year History of Marijuana use in the World we learn the first recorded use of cannabis as medicine was in 2,737 BCE.

In 100 BCE, the psychotropic properties of Cannabis are noted in the Pen Ts’ao Ching.

300 years after Jesus walked the earth, a woman in Jerusalem receives medical marijuana during childbirth.

The Jewish Talmud mentions the euphoriant properties of Cannabis by the year 500.

By 1800 cannabis plantations flourished in Mississippi, Georgia, California, South Carolina, Nebraska, New York, and Kentucky.

Cannabis had been listed in the US Pharmacopeia from 1854 until 1941, but ever since:

“The marijuana laws can most directly be compared to the Prohibition-era laws, which didn’t work, undermined the law and were capriciously enforced.”– William F. Buckley, Jr., founder of the conservative “National Review”

Under U.S. federal law, cannabis is claimed as having no medical use, yet the US government owns one of the only patents on cannabis as a medicine covering the use of cannabinoids for treating a wide range of diseases.

The patent (US6630507) is titled “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants” claims to “provide a new class of antioxidant drugs, that have particular application as neuroprotectants.”

There are over 480 natural components found within the Cannabis sativa plant, of which 66 have been classified as “cannabinoids;” chemicals unique to the plant.

In the first book of the Hebrew Scriptures God said:

‘Let the earth sprout vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them’; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was GOOD! -Genesis 1:12

Medical science understands and medical marijuana patients are proving:

Cannabinoids are useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.

For all the talk about U.S. “shared values” with Israel, the values of common sense and compassion needs to guide U.S. government policies on cannabis.

Thomas Paine’s 40-page pamphlet COMMON SENSE was the spark that united disparate colonists to unite and ignite the American Revolution.

Common sense and compassion calls to end U.S. Federal Regulations on cannabis and for the Regulation of Cannabis– just as Alcohol is regulated in the land of the free and the home of the brave!

-Eileen Fleming, Senior Non-Arab Correspondent and Health Reporter for TADN, ran for US HOUSE in 2012 on a Platform that included ending federal regulations on cannabis, to establish every June 8 to be known as USS LIBERTY Remembrance Day, and to end USA collusion in Israel’s nuclear deceptions and military occupation of Palestine.
