15th Annual Palestine Film Festival April 16- May 5

From April 16 through May 5, the Gene Siskel Film Center collaborates with the Chicago Palestine Film Festival to present the fifteenth annual festival representing the spirit and mood of contemporary Palestinian life. This festival is dedicated to exhibiting film and video work that is open, critical, and reflective of the culture, experience, and vision of the artists.

On behalf of the Committee of the Chicago Palestine Film Festival (CPFF), I would like to thank you for being a part of this year’s festival. By sharing in this event, you become a part of our story. You make our story richer and more interesting. Thank you.

We are a film festival with a simple mission – Tell the stories of the Palestinian people. I often get asked the question “Why does the film festival matter?” My team and I work so hard to bring you a few hours of entertainment, but to us its more than that. It’s a reaffirmation of identity. For a people who’s culture, history, and livelihood are threatened so regularly. The stories we share are proof that we exist and we are more than what we have been defined as. Through the comedies, documentaries, love stories, and sci-fi flicks, you will see that Palestine is far richer than the simple narrative that was thrust upon it. We assert our right to create our narratives and dictate our own realities. We are intelligent, unexpected, and timeless.

Palestinians are resilient, surprising and above all talented. Palestinians are artists, athletes, and innovators. We are the olive trees whose roots run deep. We are the children of Gaza, whose imagination and spirits cannot be contained by a wall. We want to share our passions with the world and CPFF is here to help make that happen.

I want to express my immense gratitude to our volunteers, sponsors, donors, and the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, our cinematic home every year. Without all of you, we would not be the world’s longest running Palestinian Film Festival.
