Online newspaper The Arab Daily News seeks suggestions for Top Stories of 2013 in the American Arab Community

Stories in the Arab Daily News include the death of White House Correspondent Helen Thomas, the arrest of an American in the United Arab Emirates for his Youtube parody of Dubai teenagers, the near win of an American in the Middle East TV Reality Talent Show “Arabs Got Talent,” and the controversy that has engulfed the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) in Detroit and in Washington D.C.

The Arab Daily News online newspaper focuses on news and feature stories written about American Arabs and American Muslims and is published daily online at www.TheArabDailyNews.com.

The Arab Daily News online newspaper also showcases press releases distributed by American Arab and American Muslim organizations, businesses and activists to highlight their events.

“The Arab Daily News seeks to become the Newspaper of Record for Arabs in America,” said managing editor Ray Hanania, a veteran award winning professional journalist and syndicated columnist.

“I don’t believe Arabs in American recognize how important it is to document their activities in America and the role that plays in helping Americans to better understand Arab ethnic culture.”

The Arab Daily News hires freelancers to write stories about Arab American community events, activities, personalities and organizations and has more than a dozen writers.

“We’re hoping to expand the online newspaper to include a more diverse offering of opinion commentary reflecting mainstream American Arab viewpoints,” Hanania, who is the recipient of four Chicago Headline Club Lisagor Awards for journalism.

The review of the Top American Arab stories for 2013 appears in the Arab Daily News online newspaper’s Tabboun Column and is readable online.

“We’re looking for suggestions on what the top stories in the Arab American community are for 2013 and are hoping readers will submit their nominations. We plan to showcase as many as we can to record these events for the community,” Hanania explained.

The Arab Daily News at www.TheArabDailyNews.com also includes stories on American Arab politics, American Arab businesses, American Arab activism, American Arab organizations, and American Arab and Middle East food and recipes.

“Arabs in America have so much culture that needs to be documented and we hope to achieve that with the Arab Daily News online newspaper,” Hanania said.

Ray Hanania is an award winning political columnist and author. He covered Chicago Politics and Chicago City Hall from 1976 through 1992. Hanania began writing in 1975 when he published The Middle Eastern Voice newspaper in Chicago (1975-1977). He later published “The National Arab American Times” newspaper which was distributed through 12,500 Middle East food stores in 48 American States (2004-2007).

Hanania has also received two (2) Chicago Stick-o-Type awards from the Chicago Newspaper Guild, and in 1990 was nominated by the Chicago Sun-Times for a Pulitzer Prize for his four-part series on the Palestinian Intifada.

His wife and son are Jewish and he performs standup comedy lampooning Arab-Jewish relations, advocating for peace based on non-violence, mutual recognition and Two-States.
